If you go with a hut, you will most likely have to release all unique rainbow trouts but will be able to keep more rainbow trouts and trophy's. That means you will earn less profit at the end of the day. However, all Jail Stringers have a lower maximum Total Fish Weight. If you're still low level, you can use a Lv6 Jail stringer if you want to keep unique rainbow trouts. So if you want to keep any unique you'll need one that has a max single fish weight that's higher then 5Lb. A unique rainbow trout usually weighs 5Lb minimum. When buying/upgrading your stringer or hut net you need one that's MAX SINGLE FISH WEIGHT will be at least 3Lbs if you want to keep anything. (All weights are estimates from my experience from fishing in Colorado) NEWER UPDATE: Check the FAQ about unique's if you want to learn more about them It probably won't be the last time you'll be using it and it only cost 4 gold. That being said, I still think spending gold on a spinner lure is still worth it. To give an example, some users only see a unique being caught (in chat notifications) around every 2 hours in real life. Meaning the chances of you catching a unique is way less than before that update, and probably set to what it was intended to be. NEW UPDATE: I talked to a few fishers and the word around is that the bite rate of unique trouts (not sure if it also applies to other fishes) have been reduced drastically by the update sometime between. (I catch a unique around every other day)
Don't worry about the gold cost, catching 1 unique rainbow trout will reward you with 5 gold back. A lot of people say that the beetle (3rd one) works just as well. You aren't required to buy a specific one but I recommend the Rainbow Spinner (the one all the way on the right). Spinners: There are 4 different spinners you can choose from.
A lot of people use different line, but I suggest staying at or above 4Lb line so you can get out of snags in Colorado. Suggested Loadout: I suggest a spinning rod (any will do) along with a spinning reel (again, up to your preference).
